Eliza is a charming 1920s cottage (sleeping up to 6 people), with an ideal central location, close to the popular shops, restaurants & art galleries of Darby St and a 10 minute stroll to Newcastle’s Civic Centre (including Town Hall, Civic Theatre, Regional Art Gallery, and the lively Honeysuckle precinct). The Junction and Merewether are also close by, and Bar Beach is a short walk over the hill.
In a heritage area of old terrace houses & cottages, ‘Eliza’ faces Centennial Park with its lawns, rose garden, bowling club & children’s playground. The ‘gunbarrel style’ cottage, with its polished wood floors in living areas and high ceilings, has a spacious and airy feel throughout. Two 2 double bedrooms with ceiling fans are off to the right of the hallway. Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed, while bedroom 2 has two single beds (able to be joined and converted to a king). The lounge room includes 2 sofas, TV, video and DVD player, & a gas space heater.
To the rear of the house is a compact bathroom with toilet, shower and full sized bath; a laundry with washer, dryer and dishwasher; and a fully-equipped and practical kitchen with gas stove and microwave. This adjoins an L-shaped sunroom which comfortably accommodates 6 at the dining table, and includes a trundle couch (making up into 2 single beds), a CD player, and a large desk completing a functional study nook. The back verandah outdoor area has a clothesline, outdoor setting & barbecue.
Eliza is accessible and comfortable, in a perfect location for both holiday & corporate guests.
